We are committed to building a solid foundation with a blended approach to curriculum design. Curriculum, instruction, and assessment are integrated between disciplines with a focus on student engagement and motivation. The curriculum is developed to meet the needs of a wide range of abilities, interests, and talents including students with identified learning differences as well as students ready for increased academic challenges.

We are often asked the following questions about the school's instructional philosophies and approaches:

  • Does the literacy curriculum include phonics-based instruction or a whole language approach to reading?
  • Does the math curriculum include fact memorization and computation or is the instructional approach?
  • Is the classroom approach based on direct instruction or project-based learning?
  • Are learning opportunities based on paper-and-pencil activities or technology-driven?

We are quick to answer each of these questions with an emphatic “yes!” - the learning experience at Hyde Park is all of that and more. We strive towards a balance between innovation and traditional learning practices.

Our weekly schedule includes a wide range of opportunities to participate in the fine arts, STEM, athletics, and chapel. Spanish is taught with a focus on culture as well as language acquisition. Students rotate between a variety of enrichment classes including music, art, technology, and physical education. Field experiences stem from the curriculum, allowing students to acquire knowledge first-hand from the community around them.
